SECOND DAY
Hi readers!
Today was a very interesting day. I was already wakened up at 8:30 but I decided to stay at in bed checking my social media. Then at 9:30 Maria and Mikael, because Mikaela left very early in the morning to the airport, came downstairs and greeted me saying good morning and Maria tried to explain to me the plans she had thought about. All my friends and their host's families were so lost making plans that it wasn't until late morning that we knew what to do.
Maria decided to go for a walk around a near lake, and the first plan was to go by bike but it failed when we realized that I'm very short for bikes here, which was pretty discouraging for myself. So we ended up going walking there and we talked A LOT. She showed me where can I get the bus and also lots of things about Swedish culture. The lake is enormous and there we saw a lot of people, some people were walking, others running and others walking their dogs. I've noticed that they REALLY care about nature. There isn't any trash on the forest or in the street, it's amazing to walk without stepping your foot in a gum or a cigarette.
When we arrived at the lake we took lots of photos everywhere to share the experience.
Today was a very beautiful day to walk around and while you were walking you were hotter so you keep taking off things like your gloves or unbutton your jacket.
Maria told me that she likes to go all around the lake every Sunday because you have to keep in shape because when it gets darker your body gets tired faster. She told me that when the lake is frozen they go ice skating above it! But in summer they go for a bath there too, so imagine the difference between seasons.
Swedish people also like going for a picnic and horse riding. We went to a farm next to the lake which had little horses, bunnies and big horses too. Children play there and they go horse riding very often.
We also discovered a little museum on the farm, it was about how they lived years ago. We talked to the person in charge and told him that I was from Spain and started to be really nice talking to me in English.
I saw a beach for dogs only and lots of houses that were exactly the same which made me felt so confused every single time. The style of the houses it's pretty similar to San Francisco's ones.
We tried to meet with the rest of the students during the walk but it was impossible so at lunch Marina, Victor and Tim came home to organize the evening. We ate and talk about our first day and then we decided to meet with Sabela at home to go all together to Stockholm. When we finished we went by car to the nearest subway and took it to the center of Stockholm.
The stations all have some art and look like caves. I was very impressed by one that has a huge rainbow.
Once we left the subway we saw the city that it has a very particular type of buildings. We took lots of pictures and saw so many people. We were complaining about prices because it is very expensive in general but the bright side is that you can pay anywhere with your credit card. I entered into an ice cream shop to ask about the price of a waffle and I regret it the moment they told me the price: almost 6 euros!
We went to the royal palace and saw the guards. We thought that we could ask them to take a picture but Sabela tried to speak to one and suddenly yell at us something in Swedish we were so embarrassed and confused at the same time that we started to laugh a lot in the middle of the square of the palace, and when we turned we saw the guard laughing too!! We keep laughing when we remember that moment during the evening, of course, she was afraid to ask anything else to anyone.
After a long walk taking photos and watching the showcase of so many shops, we went for a fika that is like a coffee with a pie here. It's very popular to have it as a snack. We went to a very fancy coffee shop where I found out that water is free here, because the water from the tap is very good not like in other countries, and they are very proud of that.
Then to return to Täby we took the subway again and on the last station we came back in the car to my host family home where Tim's mom was waiting to take Tim, Victor and Sabela to their houses. Marina waited with us for her partner Frida who rides a car, and during the waiting, Maria explained to me the way that buses work here because I will have to take it tomorrow to school alone! But good that it's all computerized to make it easier for you.
I will tell you if I could get to the school tomorrow.
Thanks for keep reading me and see you soon.
