FIRST DAY
Hello again.
Yesterday I arrived at Täby, Sweden. The journey was pretty boring and hard for all of us. We had to wake up at 3:00 a.m because we had to be at Santiago's airport at 5:10 to meet with our teacher. There we all said goodbye to our families and started going through the airport security. Once we had finished we took the plane to Madrid. We arrived at Madrid at 7:30 more a less. We were all starving so we had breakfast at the airport and then took our last plane, the one to Stockholm. Notwithstanding the long flight, we had fun talking about what we will do here and learning how to play cards.
Fortunately, there weren't any problems at the arrival. We were all very nervous about the first impression we will cause to our hosts' families, but it was reassuring when we find out that they all are very nice and welcoming. The teacher gave us a transport card to be able to take the bus during these two months.
Then I met in person Mikaela and Maria. I think they couldn't be better. They are nice, reliable, friendly, helpful, smart,... They have it all. We went shopping right away we left the airport because Mikaela wanted to make kötbulle: meatballs. Here they are very popular. So we went to the nearest supermarket and the minute we entered there I was already in love with Sweden. They have lots of types of bread and they told me to choose one, but it seemed impossible so I let them choose their favorite. We bought: potatoes (they sell them in plastic bags), lots of candies (they love them), ripped meat to make de meatballs and some other stuff. When we were at the cashier I saw a newspaper and some magazines and I took a picture of them. When we were leaving the market I realized that they have a place to store plastic bottles and you get a ticket to make your next shopping cheaper! (the next time I will take a picture because I forgot to do it).
Mikaela and her mum told me that Sweden cares a lot of the environment by having paths for bikes, reusing trash, recycling plastic and have renewable sources. They take care of forests and although they might pay lots of taxes they see the results in their cities.
Later in the evening, we arrived home and they made me a tour of their house, which by the way is really nice and cozy. My bedroom is next to the kitchen and the laundry room. We ate a sandwich with the face of Mickey Mouse and a banana smoothie, it was delicious. We talked a lot, I found out some music that Mikaela likes, which is very interesting, and I gave them some gifts that I brought. Then Mikaela went to her room to pack for her trip to London the next day and I started to unpack for my stance here. But as I finished so quickly Miakela ask me for my opinion to make her suitcase.
Once we both settled down we started to make dinner. We peeled the potatoes and made some sort of paste for the meatballs, and at the same time, Maria cooked a sauce. When we were finishing making the dinner the father, Mikael, came and I finally met him. It was impressive because he is enormous and I'm very short, but here they are all very tall.
We finished preparing the dinner and started to eat all together. Everything was perfect from the drink that was like a juice but not as sweet as the ones in Spain to the meatballs with cranberry jam, and for dessert: candies. There were lots of types, each one I proved was the favorite one of one member of the family. After the dinner, I had a fantastic shower and we tried to watch a film altogether but it was impossible due to the tiredness of Mikaela and me. Before I finally went to bed my nose started to bleed but all I could care about was me and the bed.
I have lots of things to find out with this amazing company and I will keep writing all my adventures here.
Bye and thanks for reading me.
